Manchester Dogs Home Appeal

Following last night’s suspected arson attack on Manchester Dogs Home, over 60 dogs are now known to have perished in the blaze. Firefighters said 150 dogs have been moved to Cheshire Dogs Home.

Staff and trustees have been moved by the enormous response to the emergency.

A JustGiving account set-up by the Manchester Evening News raised over £223,000 in the space of 12 hours (this has now topped  the £1 million mark). If you would like to give or share there is also a Facebook page that has been set up to help with the clean-up operation.

Det Insp Neil Jones, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “The response from the public has been overwhelming and this is clearly an incident that has tugged on the heartstrings of many.
